Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area

Big Bend State Recreation Area is a park on the northern shores of the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada. With many recreational activities and facilities available, the Big Bend State Recreation Area is a popular spot for many. Big Bend is a newer state park and was established in 1996.

Activities

Many families enjoy picnicking, boating, jet skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking and camping in the area. A large white sand beach provides plenty of space for sprawling out on your beach towel and lolling in the sun. Picnic structures provide shade on the shoreline in the day, along with boat ramp areas and built in barbecues for a cook out. The Colorado River makes this area a water sportsman's dream.

Facilities

24 RV campsites with power are available and include a structure for shade, a barbecue grill, a fire pit and a tent pad. Restrooms and showers are also accessible. There are ample undeveloped areas for hiking and in 2009, four miles of developed hiking trails were added to the recreation area. A paved parking lot is situated near boat ramps for boating.

Remember that summer temperatures can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit and above, but spring and fall weather is nice and mild.
