Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park

With a beautiful view of both water and wildlife, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park visitors can choose between hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing and camping -- or do it all with ease! With several gorgeous visitor sites to choose from, this state park has something for everyone.

Sand Harbor

One of the most popular areas at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park is Sand Harbor, which houses the Sand Harbor Visitor Center. Located just south of Incline Village, the Center hosts educational displays about Lake Tahoe's natural and cultural history as well as a well-stocked gift and beach shop. Just outside the Visitor Center, tourists can find concession services that include a snack bar and grill. Or, if they prefer to grill on their own, shady picnic areas offer barbecues and picnic tables, and each has a paved walkway that makes the area easily accessible to all. Outside, sandy beaches, crystal clear water and fascinating rock formations beckon those interested in swimming and scuba diving. A paved nature trail tops off the day's activities with a relaxing 1/3-mile walk with interpretive signs and endless views of the lake along the way.

Spooner Lake

Another location at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park that is popular with the hiking and backpacking crowd is Spooner Lake. Located at the intersection of State Route 28 and U.S. 50, Spooner Lake offers a variety of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, as well as fishing and camping. Developed picnic sites are also available for day use. Those wanting to stay overnight can rent rustic cabins, and lush meadows and aspen groves provide ample opportunities for wildlife viewing. Due to leeches, swimming in the lake is strongly discouraged, though.

No matter what you want in a summer getaway, you are sure to find it at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. With unparallelled beauty and the best that nature has to offer, Lake Tahoe is the perfect place to make memories that last a lifetime!
