Popular Parks and Recreation Areas Near Las Vegas

Many only know Las Vegas as a gambling mecca; however, those who enjoy the great outdoors and the natural beauty of this nation are in luck as well. There are several popular parks and recreation areas located in the outlying areas of Las Vegas. You just have to know where to look.

Death Valley

Just over 100 miles from Las Vegas is arguably one of the most brutal pieces of land on earth. Death Valley is among the largest of the national parks. This forbidding location also holds the national record for the highest recorded temperature and the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere.

Grand Canyon

A bit farther out is the most visited national park in the world. 275 miles from Las Vegas is Grand Canyon National Park. Those who visit this natural wonder understand the attraction of this giant canyon formation. Visitors to the park are awe-struck by the beautiful views, amazing geology and lush wildlife they witness.

Red Rock Canyon

If you want to see beautiful landscapes without straying too far from the lights of the city, consider spending time at Red Rock Canyon. This is one of the best places to experience what desert living is really all about. Enjoy a scenic drive, hiking trails and plenty of areas to appreciate the wildlife and views in this canyon.

While Las Vegas is not about to lose its status as Sin City anytime soon, you can balance your trip with a bit of heaven, too. These parks promise to provide your family with memories they are not likely to forget.
