Camping

If you enjoy camping, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area includes opportunities to camp in a developed campground or in the remote backcountry. The developed campground consists of 71 individual campsites and is a mixed-use facility that allows both tent and recreational vehicle camping. Backcountry camping is allowed above 5,000 feet in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area provided that you obtain a permit.

Scenic drive

Unique plants, animals and geologic features that exemplify the Mojave Desert are found in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. You can appreciate this natural beauty by car or bicycle on the paved scenic drive that runs for 13 miles and provides opportunities to see sandstone formations, desert wildlife, petroglyphs and waterfalls. Trails offering opportunities for sightseeing, photography or hiking are also accessible from the scenic drive.

Horseback riding

The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area allows horseback riding on two-tracks, dirt trails and on some foot trails. If you prefer guided horseback rides as opposed to riding on your own, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers guided rides as well.

Picnic areas

Red Rock Canyon contains picnic areas that include shaded structures and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. An interpretive boardwalk offers visitors the opportunity to view rock art, and read interpretive panels explaining the ecosystem in the area.
