Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park

Whitewater rafting is a fun and exciting event to do with the family and can make memories that will last a lifetime. If you are traveling through Nevada, then you should check out the Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park.

What to expect

When you arrive at Wingfield Park, you can choose from a couple of whitewater tour guide companies. Tahoe Whitewater Tours and Wild Sierra Adventures are the two major ones in the area. If you have your own permit, you can take yourself out and brave the rapids solo. Typically, rafting tours range from 50 to 100 dollars depending on the public demand for it. The rapids range from class two to class three and can be gone down on a raft, kayak, canoe or inner tube.

What does class 2 to 3 mean?

Rapids are divided into six classes. Class one rapids are essentially still water, such as a lake, and class six rapids are considered un-raftable. An example of a class six rapid is Niagara Falls. Class two to three rapids are relatively weak, but do not let it catch you off guard as it is still extremely dangerous if proper precautions are not taken.

If you are headed towards Wingfield Park, you should definitely check out its whitewater rafting scene because it can be very fun. Just make sure to be safe, go with a tour group if you do not know what you are doing, and most of all have fun.
