Walker Lake State Recreation Area

Walker Lake State Recreation Area is one of the last remaining parks associated with an ancient lake that covered most of western Nevada about 10,000 years ago. It is one of the only two large natural lakes in Nevada with 38,000 square feet, and a coastline that varies from rocky to sandy beaches.
Location
Walker Lake State Recreation Area is part of Nevada Division of State Parks. It is located 11 miles north of Hawthorne on US 95. The park is open year round to visitors.
Amenities and recreation
Walker Lake State Recreation Area offers a boat launching location where you can get out on the beautiful lake for some water sports, or settle in for a nice tan. It is also a great place for picnics instead of staying inside to eat. There are restrooms available for when you are on shore. The lake is ideal for swimming and fishing, as it is regularly stocked with fish. The park also offers camping services so you can stay for a few days. Plus it is a fantastic spot for birdwatchers to catch a glimpse of some magnificent birds.
